See the Presentations PTAC Highlights Previous Next National Training Conference Louisiana PTAC counselors and staff attended the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC) conference March 11-14 in Reno, Nevada. PTAC counselors received training on topics: Working with SBIR/STTR Contracts, Update on SAM, Understanding FPIF Contracts, Lowest Price Technically, DFARS Cyber Security, Post Disaster Contracting and many more. Additional sessions covered Legal Updates for Small Contractors, CPARS and Open Ratings, Use of Sound Market Research and Marketing to Government Agencies. New Scam Using the name "APTAC USA" If you happen to receive an invoice that looks similiar to the one pictured, then you have become the target of a new scam that is being sent to PTAC clients across the country. Recently, the Louisiana PTAC was notified by APTAC, our national headquarters (Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers - APTAC) of a new scam that is using the name APTAC USA”. This group is sending invoices to PTAC clients for services that they receive at no cost from their local PTAC. Please read below the notification that we were sent: A small business recently contacted their local PTAC after receiving an email invoice from American Procurement Technical Assistance Consultants (APTAC USA)” for $249 for Procurement Technical Assistance”. What should you do if you receive a similiar invoice and email: 1) Never pay an invoice for services that you have not contracted for 2) Please alert your PTAC counselor immediately Our national APTAC headquarters have already taken steps to bring this matter to the attention of appropriate authorities. Research Recognition On Thursday, November 17 the University of Louisiana at Lafayette recognized significant contributions to the University from the areas of research, innovation and scholarship at an awards ceremony held in the LITE Center. .The Louisiana PTAC received a Certificate of Achievement in Sponsored Research as having been awarded externally sponsored projects in an amount between $100,000 and $500,000 during the 2014-2016 Academic Years. Ms. Sherrie Mullins, Program Manager for PTAC accepted the award. PTAC Training Counselors from the Louisiana PTAC attended the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers conference November 6-8 in Washington, DC. Among the many topics presented were "Update on NIST - MEP/PTAC Cybersecurity Partnership", "Navigating the FAR", "Get them in Front of Federal Buyers: Data That Opens Doors", Critical Changes in Small Business Regulations" and many more. Cindy Carrier, Senior Counselor for the Louisiana PTAC-Southeast was honored with being named the SBA 2018 Champion Award for the Louisiana Small Business Advocate of the Year. Cindy has worked with the Louisiana PTAC since its inception in 1989. As a Louisiana PTAC counselor, she provides Louisiana companies specialized and professional procurement technical assistance to actively seek and/or perform on contracts and subcontracts in the local, state, and federal government sector marketplaces.
